Modern factory Engine Control Units or ECU’s, come equipped with an advanced engine immobiliser function as a deterrent to vehicle theft. However, in order to successfully transplant a modern engine into another vehicle, these immobiliser functions must be defeated.

The Tuned2Race immobiliser defeat code allows for the use of the stock ECU, eliminating the added cost and complexity that would typically be involved in such an engine transplant or conversion. This is beneficial as utilisation of the standard ECU means remaining within factory safety parameters; it is also the only way to run the FSI setup on later FSI vehicles.

However, this product is only available in conjunction with a Tuned2Race performance software upgrade, and the ECU itself will have to be sent to your regional Tuned2Race dealer. It is necessary to bear in mind that the cost of the immobiliser defeat code is an additional charge beyond that of the relevant performance software. This installation is currently available for the Bosch ME7, MED9 petrol ECUs, EDC15, EDC16 and EDC17 diesel ECU’s.

Modern diesel powered vehicles are fitted with what is known as a Diesel Particulate Filter or DPF. It is the function of the DPF to collect the sooty particles within the exhaust, and given the correct conditions, burn these particles at a very high temperature (regeneration) in order to reduce the soot emissions and thus the carbon footprint of the vehicle.
